Measure the net wall area first, then draw the cutting layout. Area helps you compare unit costs, while the layout tells you how many full-length strips you need.
Count full-height strips
Take a wall measuring 3 m wide by 2.8 m high, with no openings. It has 8.4 m² of wall area. If your chosen marble-look wall covering has an effective width of 1.2 m and can be installed vertically, the wall takes three strips across. The last strip covers only about 0.6 m of wall width but still needs a full-height cut. If each roll is 3 m long and one strip fits within that length after trimming and pattern alignment, budget three rolls for this example. Their nominal area is 10.8 m².
Draw openings and mark reusable offcuts
Map doors and windows onto the layout and label offcuts that can cover smaller sections. Dry-lay neighboring strips before cutting a directional pattern. Ask the supplier to confirm the effective width, roll length and seam method for the exact SKU.
